Babydoll Wins Double Gold at Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards 2018

Babydoll Sparkling Pinot Gris Blush has been awarded a Double Gold at the 2018 Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards, along with another Gold medal for Babydoll Sauvignon Blanc 2017.

Only in its fifth year, the Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards is the largest international wine competition in Japan and is judged solely by professional female judges in the industry.  This year 4,342 entries were made, with fewer than half receiving an award.  Of the 271 Double Gold medals awarded, just nine went to New Zealand.  The top award, the prestigious Diamond Trophy, will be awarded to a few select Double Gold winners at the FOODEX2018 ceremony held in Japan on the 6th March.

“Babydoll Sparkling Blush was only introduced to the range around six months ago, so it’s really exciting to see it pick up a Double Gold at Japan’s largest international wine show,” says Natalie Christensen, Winemaker for Babydoll.  “The wine has these amazing floral characters with a delicate peachy aroma and fine persistent bubbles.  It’s become a big favourite amongst our Babydoll fans.”
