This beautiful pale-gold Chardonnay has aromas of pineapple, citrus and stone fruit with subtle spice and toasty oak. The palate is ripe, textural and fresh with sweet fruit, lees complexity and an elegant finish. Beautifully matched with roast chicken, fish’n’chips and oysters.
Hawke’s Bay has more vineyards than any other wine producing region in New Zealand except Marlborough, and a history in winegrowing that dates back to 1851. Our Chardonnay comes from vineyards that are characterised by moderate temperatures and free draining soils, perfect for producing great quality fruit with distinctive pineapple and citrus flavours.
The fruit was picked and gently pressed to give fine fresh juices with a soft texture. We kept each batch separate and fermented them with a range of vessels, temperatures and yeast strains to create complexity of aroma and mouth-feel. After aging on full yeast lees with regular stirring, the batches were blended and prepared for bottling.
