This Pinot Gris will draw you in with aromas of pear drops and nutty characters, and excite the taste buds with gorgeous stone fruit and honey flavours. You’ll find the palate is full with wonderful balance between fruit sweetness and acidity, and a refreshing crisp finish. Ideal with Asian food, chicken or light pasta dishes.
Marlborough is a fantastic region for realising the full potential of grape varieties. With its mild springs, largely dry summers and consistently cool nights, we get this great extended growing season that means we can leave grapes on the vines until they reach their ideal ripeness. The Pinot Gris from this year has notes of nashi pear with some bees wax high tones.
Parcels of Pinot Gris were individually harvested, de-stemmed and gently pressed. Next the juice was cold settled for 48 hours then racked before starting a long, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks designed to capture and develop the fruit flavours of pear, fig and stone fruit. We fermented each parcel separately using a few different, carefully selected yeasts. When fermentation was complete, we blended, stabilised and filtered the wine before bottling.
